Extended Job Description

Definition

To provide classroom instruction to college students through lecture, demonstration, laboratory and on-line exercises, handouts and responding to questions and testing by face-to-face and/or online instruction in Physics.

Supervision Received/Exercised

Receives direct supervision and/or technical direction from the Department Chair of Science

May occasionally receive general supervision from full-time instructional staff

Essential Functions

Provide classroom and laboratory instruction to students and/or online to students at the North Campus, Downtown Campus and satellite Campuses.

Be willing to work morning, afternoon and evening classes as needed.

Prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities.

Develop and prepare supplement materials to enhance textbook lessons.

Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance; grade and record individual scores.

Provide classroom demonstrations on various equipment and machinery; develop
Laboratory assignments to provide hands on experience as appropriate.

Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to required teaching area and in accordance with CFCC policies and guidelines.

Maintain accurate records of student attendance and grade rosters.

Submit all required paperwork on time.

Maintain current OSHA Safety Sheets and routinely inspect equipment.

Follow all safety standards in the lab.

Other Important Functions

Assess the relevancy and impact of various lessons and recommend improvements as needed.

Maintain the required office and on-campus hours.

Serve on appointed committees.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge of

Classroom and laboratory instructional techniques and procedures.

Current trends, research and development in Physics.

Ability To

Interpret and apply College goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Establish and maintain cooperative-working relationships with CFCC employees.

Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which include the following:
