A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field with coursework focused in Human Resources.

Minimum Required Experience

•Three or more years of direct Human Resources experience involving recruitment, benefits processing, employee onboarding, training, policy and procedure development, applicant tracking systems(ATS) or other HR Information Systems (HRIS). Two years should include experience implementing and administering large scale HRIS related projects, preferably applicant
tracking systems.

•Must also have a high level of proficiency in working with all Microsoft Office applications
.
•Excellent diplomacy skills and a high level of discretion.

•Ability to effectively organize and handle multiple job duties in a fast-paced office environment.

•Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills

•Experience with Colleague/Banner

•NC Retirement System and State Health plan knowledge and experience

•HR experience within a college/university work environment

•SPHR or PHR certification

•Membership in CUPAHR, SHRM, and/or other related HR professional organizations

Extended Job Description

Definition

This position is responsible for a variety of technical and confidential responsibilities to support various aspects of human resources administration, including but not limited to, benefit administration, recruitment, employee onboarding, assistance with classification and compensation reviews, compliance, reporting, training, policy and procedure development, communications, researching and compiling data. In addition, this position will provide the support and maintenance of the Human Resources Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and other HR Information Systems (HRIS) implemented by HR.

Supervision Received/Exercised

Receives general supervision from the Executive Director of Human Resources.

May supervise federal work-study students.

Essential Functions

•Provide primary system administration and day-to-day operational support of ATS and provide user account administration. Ensure adequate security controls for proper safeguarding of confidential data and ensuring the integrity of ATS. Identifies problems, troubleshoots and provides solutions to assist users.

•Prepares, coordinates and delivers various training sessions, workshops and classes for employees, individually or in groups, related to the recruitment and selection process

•Leads HR in implementing technology related projects.

•Advises hiring officials, staff, and general public on faculty/staff employment policies and procedures.

•Conducts comprehensive screening of applicants to determine qualifications for positions.

•Must be able to operate autonomously to process new employee information while organizing, maintaining, and updating employee files. Processing of new hires includes verifying work eligibility, evaluating wages for consistency, and ensuring proper qualifications are met.

•Coordinates and communicates new hire changes and updates with payroll staff; directs employees to proper college staff or outside agencies for additional assistance.

•Must maintain a system of scanning and indexing employee files as college transitions to an electronic record-keeping system.

•Assists the Human Resources office with answering applicant questions as well as the collection, entering, and organizing of applications.

•Assist in the response to employment inquiries from hiring departments, new hires, and potential new employees.

•Assist the Senior HR Generalist in the communication of the College’s employee insurance and benefits programs; process and maintain benefit materials, brochures, and claim forms. Respond to inquiries from employees and retirees; provide assistance and explanations regarding benefit problems, options, changes and provisions including disability, retirement, sick and annual leave, resignation, health benefits and other insurances; assist in the review, verification, and preparation of health enrollment forms, medical and optional benefit forms.

•Respond to requests for information and assistance from employees, management, outside agencies and the public.

•Participate in preparing and compiling a variety of reports on Human Resources activities as directed.

•Learn functions of other positions in the Human Resources office.

•Maintain, organize, and update employee files; participate in the maintenance of all personnel records and files.

•Perform a wide variety of general clerical work including the maintenance of accurate and detailed records; verify accuracy of information and research discrepancies; type and proofread a variety of documents including general correspondence, reports and memos; input data into the computer; organization and storage of electronic and paper records.

•May facilitate new employee orientation.

•Perform related duties and responsibilities as required
